Beam detectors use a light path to identify smoke across a large open space. In the arrangement described in this article, a detector directs infrared light towards a reflector and monitors the returning beam. Smoke passing through that path changes the signal. The article explains why equipment selection should reflect the space, environment and intended application. Contact the engineering team to discuss appropriate detection options for your facility.
